New York..
otherwise known as the Empire state.
We are a state that prides itself on leading the way…whether it’s in the financial markets,
the fashion industry or in sports. Let’s face it, in terms of championships, New York is home to the most successful professional sports team in North American history. The NY Yankees have won 27 World Series Championships. So why is it that we are lagging so far behind the rest of the country and the rest of the world when it comes to accepting the fastest growing sport in the world…Mixed Martial Arts?!?

Mixed Martial Arts is now legal and regulated in 45 of the 48 states that have state athletic commissions. This is particularly puzzling when you consider how much revenue the legalization of MMA would generate and how many more jobs would be created.

Independent economic studies have verified that just one MMA show in New York City would generate over $11 million, an estimated $7 million on Long Island, and a show in upstate New York would generate over $5 million. MMA exhibitions fill hotel rooms and restaurants over the course of a full weekend, stimulating the local economy.

The popularity of Mixed Martial Arts is growing by leaps and bounds. MMA is now the number one sport on pay per view. Major MMA shows have sold out in cities around New York including Boston, Philadelphia, Newark, Cleveland and Montreal, bringing much needed economic activity. Quite a bit of that economic activity was generated by New Yorkers forced to travel outside of their state to enjoy their chosen sport.

This is no time to sit idle and watch this opportunity pass us by. Join me in my fight to legalize Mixed Martial Arts in the state of New York. Help me bring your voice to Albany to let our Governor and our Legislature know that the time has come to
bring MMA to New York!
